Wherever you go in Amsterdam, it is always fantastic. The canals and architecture in the Jordaan district are unique, you won’t find anything like it anywhere else.
I truly feel passionate about Amsterdam. I try to enjoy every part of this magical city. I love cycling but see more of the details that make the architecture so special when I’m walking. The Jordaan district is my favourite part of town – and not just in summer. The architecture, canals and nature make for an astonishingly beautiful combination. I love strolling along the Bloemgracht, a quiet neighbourhood where people soak up the sun in front of their houses and small boats sail by with the Westertoren as a beautiful landmark in the background. I often continue on to the Noordermarkt, which boasts a variety of pubs, bakeries and grocery shops. A little further on, the Brouwersgracht and area around Haarlemmerplein square are also lovely places for a walk.
Although Amsterdam is commonly called Cycling City, the capital is also a perfect place for strolling around. Walking through Amsterdam is an unforgettable experience that will astound you. We’ll start our walk in the Jordaan, a district that is extra special on a beautiful spring or summer night. Turn into one of the narrow alleys behind the Westerkerk (and don’t be afraid to get lost, it will be wonderful wherever you end up). Soak up the sun on a pleasant terrace whilst enjoying a drink and some tasty Gouda cheese. After a short walk, land on one of the benches to rest or while away some time along one of the canals. There are so many canals in Amsterdam that you will always find one nearby. Enjoy the urban landscape, the boats and the beautiful architecture along the canals. It is truly impressive.
