The Amstel Gold Race is a Dutch international classic in the cycling world, which is held in the hills of Limburg every year. The event is sponsored by beer brand Amstel and has been part of the Cycling World Championships since 1989. It is now also one of the routes in the UCI Pro tour and the UCI World Tour.
- Visit the Amstel Gold Race and watch the world’s top cyclists finish on the Cauberg.
- Participate in the tour version of the Amstel Gold Race as an amateur.
- Like the Tour de France and Giro d’Italia, this event is a part of the UCI World Tour.
The Amstel Gold Race is a special race in that the cyclists must turn and twist through the little villages and some of the hills must be climbed more than once. The Cauberg and Keutenberg hills are difficult climbs and with a distance of about 250 kilometres, the experts say it is a very hard route.
Amstel Gold Raas
Jan Raas, one of Holland’s best cyclists ever, won the race no fewer than five times and still holds the record. If you want to witness the race or even participate in the tour variant for amateurs, don’t wait too long to register because it is a very popular cycling event.
