Finishing in the Olympic Stadium
Going for a 42 km and 195 metre run through and around Amsterdam. Thousands of people, professional and amateur, run the TCS Amsterdam Marathon every year. This unique competition is well known for its fast and beautiful route. The runners start and finish at the Olympic Stadium, the stands filled with encouraging spectators, making for an unforgettable experience.
The route goes past many beautiful sites, including the Amstel Hotel and Tropenmuseum ( ‘museum of the tropics’). The runners speed through the attractive Vondelpark, over Leidseplein square and along the Amstel river with its beautiful windmills and views. Another special feature on the itinerary is the run through the passage beneath the Rijksmuseum.
And if it is too much?
If an entire marathon is just too much for you, there are shorter variants as well. For instance the half marathon, the 8 km run and an Olympic Kids Run for younger children. This spectacular event is organised in Amsterdam every autumn, and is enjoyed by contestants as well as spectators.
