The Four Days Marches
Thousands of people – young, old, soldiers, civilians – all take part in the International Four Day Marches of Nijmegen, a unique event full of sportsmanship and atmosphere.

Every year on the third Tuesday of July 40.000 people show up at the start of the greatest walking event in the world: the ‘Nijmeegse Vierdaagse’ or Four Days Marches. People from all over the world and of all ages travel to Nijmegen to stretch their boundaries and hope to receive the coveted medal.
Walk of the World
The Four Days Marches are also known as the Walk of the World. For four days, thousands of participants walk 30, 40 or 50 kilometers each day. A few thousand military participants walk 40 kilometers a day in uniform with a ten kilo backpack. The goal of the event has always been to promote sport and exercise.
Four Days Festivals
For those who are not interested in walking, the ‘Vierdaagsefeesten’ (Four Days Festival) offers a solution. The festival in Nijmegen is a mixture of music, food and drinks. If you are a walker, the Four Days Marches should be on your to-do list.
