- Spring is the perfect season to explore the flower-bulb region by bicycle
- Ride the IJsselmeer tour: 400 km through the most beautiful landscapes in Holland
- Opt for an organized cycling tour or plan your own
The Dutch love their bicycles; there are more bicycles in this country than there are inhabitants. It is not such a surprising thing if you remember that distances are short and we have no mountains. It seems Holland was made for bicycles!
Cycling through the flower-bulb region
If you want to experience Holland to the fullest, you should definitely ride a bicycle. You will explore beautiful polder landscapes, wonderful dune regions and beaches, and naturally the flower-bulb region as well. For if you are in Holland in spring, you should definitely take a bicycle tour through the flower-bulb fields. Another place you should absolutely see is Keukenhof.
For serious bicycle lovers: the IJsselmeer tour
If you like a longer bicycle ride (about 400 km) and really want to explore more of Holland, we warmly recommend the IJsselmeer tour (also known as the Zuiderzee route). You will cycle through the most beautiful landscapes along the IJsselmeer and visit authentic old villages where people wear traditional costumes to this day.
An organised tour or planning your own?
Cycling in Holland is a wonderful experience, particularly in spring. Opt for one of the countless organised bicycle tours or make your own with the cycling route planner. If it is difficult for you to bring your own bicycle, you can rent one pretty much anywhere in Holland. Our recommendation for spring this year: explore Holland by bicycle!
