Meermanno Book Collection
The Museum Meermanno collection started with the collection of baron W.H.J. van Westreenen van Tiellandt (1783-1848), a passionate collector of anything from books and antiquities to family portraits and souvenirs. Over the years the museum expanded its collection of books on the basis of category and design. Among the masterpieces on display at Museum Meermanno are special bibles, atlases, letter designs, panels and book shelves.
The stately mansion of Meermanno breathes history. You walk past generously spaced showcases and cabinets and see the history of books unfold. The magnificent collection reaches its highlight in the 19th century library.
