The Amsterdam Arena

The Amsterdam Arena is the home stadium of Ajax, the well-known Amsterdam football club. It is the biggest stadium in Holland and has a seating capacity of almost 53,000. The Amsterdam Arena was opened in 1996 and is therefore relatively new to the city. The stadium has a special feature: its roof can be closed so that no game or concert needs to be cancelled due to bad weather.

As well as staging many great football games, the stadium has hosted concerts by various famous artists like Michael Jackson, U-2, Bruce Springsteen, Madonna, Pavarotti, and more. Even so, people complain about sound quality as much as they do about Ajax’s performance.

Accessible by tube

If you are in Amsterdam and want to experience a soccer match or a concert, the underground, metro is an easy way to get there. It takes you from Central Station to the Arena in just ten minutes.
