Dash Berlin interview

Dash Berlin

Hi Dash,

Many thanks for your time in answering these questions!

DB: You’re welcome. The pleasure is all mine.

 --

HC: Who is Dash Berlin? - Can you introduce yourself in your own words?

DB: I’m a DJ, a producer and label manager for Aropa records, which is a sub label of Armada Music. I recently released my debut album called ‘The New Daylight’ which is out worldwide on iTunes, Beatport, Audiojelly etc.

 --

HC: What differentiates you from other Trance DJ’s?

DB: That typical ‘Dash Berlin sound’..

 --

HC: How would you describe “the Dash Berlin sound”?

DB: I like to describe it as an uplifting, emotive, epic audio painting.

--

HC: Do you see yourself as the new Armin van Buuren or the new Tiesto of the future?

DB: I am ambitious and I am definitely on a mission, but I would like to be able to say afterwards that I did it my way.

 --

HC: What would be your ultimate dream as a DJ?

DB: Having my own night on Ibiza.

--

HC: What would be your worst fear as a DJ?

DB: Apple designing a hot looking iPod robot that can play records.

 --

HC: Tell us about your favourite gig ever so far?

DB: I am blessed to have a favorite gig almost every weekend. The energy and the vibe that people bring to my shows, is out of this world.

 --

HC: What are you planning on doing or what did you do for your 30th Birthday? (Dash was born in november 1979)

DB: My friends surprised me with dinner and a party in a club, which was really heartwarming.

 --

HC: Where are you the most looking forward to playing during your worldwide tour in 2010?

DB: ‘The New Daylight World Tour’ in 2010 is going to very be big for me. It’s going to take me all over the globe. There are still a lot of countries that I have never been before, so that is always something I look forward to. But then again; there are countries that I have already been to that I can’t wait to visit again.

 --

HC: What’s your favorite single from the album “The New Daylight” and why?

DB: ‘Till The Sky Fall Down’ is the track that really catapulted my career, so that fact alone makes it a very special track for me. But my recent single ‘Waiting’ is also really exploding at the moment, so it’s really hard to choose for me.

 --

HC: Who is your favorite Dutch DJ?

DB: The Dark Raver. This man deserves his own reality show!

 --

HC: Where should I go clubbing in Holland?

DB: Holland is famous for her amazing nightlife culture. There are many, many clubs that are worth an unforgettable visit. Make sure you check the flyers for your favorite deejay and/or style of music and once you get that right you’re good to go.
A few tips: Escape Venue in Amsterdam, Club Rembrandt in Eindhoven, Club Noa in Leeuwarden, Club Patronaat in Haarlem and Club Manhattan in Arnhem. Don’t forget to check out the famous Dutch mega party’s like Trance Energy and Sensation or festivals like Mystery Land or Dance Valley.

HC: Can you tell us a something about yourself “Jeffery Sutorius” but not something about “Dash Berlin” the DJ?

DB: That’s kinda difficult ‘cause the two are pretty much one and the same, because the deejaying aspect is such a big part of my life. There is no noticeable ‘Jekyll and Hyde’ effect going on when I am not deejaying as far as I know haha. I do like my sports like soccer, swimming and running and I’m a real family man.

--

HC: Thanks!

DB: More than welcome!
