The day starts early at the largest flower auction in Holland, Flower Auction Aalsmeer. Inspectors move around the coolstores, examining merchandise, while early-bird buyers take their seats in the auction rooms before the 06.00 a.m. start of trading.

Computerization

The high level of computerization and the efficiency epitomized by both auctions have made the cooperative Dutch system so profitable that even over 1.500 foreign growers now send their products to Holland to be auctioned. More than 75% of all the flowers and plants that are sold at the auctions is being exported all over the world.
