The Statue of Liberty is coming to Holland: Queen Beatrix to open 60th edition of Keukenhof
On 18 March 2009, Her Majesty Queen of the Netherlands Beatrix will officially open the 60th anniversary edition of the Keukenhof. With the anniversary celebrations being such a tremendous achievement, a grand and very topical theme was needed to match it. The links between Holland and the United States of America go back a long way making the theme ‘USA, New Amsterdam – New York, 400’. A flower version of one of America’s main national icons, the Statue of Liberty, will stand at the Keukenhof as a symbol of the theme at the world-famous international flower exhibition in Lisse.
