In days gone by the only people who could afford the luxury of a “Havezate”, a large country-house in Drenthe, were well-to-do ‘gentlemen-farmers’. Various top-quality facilities are accommodated in our stunning Havezate which is centrally located at the lakeside. Culinary indulge yourself in one of our five restaurants or grab a delicious lunch in the Grand Café, have a swim in the various swimming pools or a relaxing treatment in our extensive Spa & Wellness centre or go for a good old workout in our professional gym. The Havezate has something to offer for everyone. Admire and enjoy the interior, the art collection or the magnificent architecture of the Havezate. Hof van Saksen organises activities for young and old each day with a strong emphasis on nature and experience through fun activities which teach you something as well. The activities organised are accommodated in the various Academies (Nature Academy, Handcraft Academy, Technology Academy and Archaeology Academy). Each Academy has a dedicated theme and has variety of activities to offer with a new or innovative character. Campfires, raft-building or a bat safari there are educational or sporty experiences to suit everyone.

Saxon farmhouse cottages, the atmosphere of days gone by
Hof van Saksen is set in an ancient picturesque maple village landscape surrounded by heath land and near the streams the Aa and Hunze. The inspiration for both the traditional Saxon farmhouse cottages and the Havezate lies in old Drenthse farmhouses with their characteristic lines and extending thatched roofs that almost touch the ground. Although the architecture is inspired by the past, the farmhouses are fitted with all modern conveniences you can expect nowadays. Hof van Saksen has farmhouse cottages with sleeping accommodation for 4 to 12 people. There are special children’s farmhouse cottages for young families and also farmhouses with a delightful sauna and whirlpool or sun bed for optimal relaxation.
