Gouda by Candlelight 16 December
On this special evening the beautiful Gothic Town Hall on Gouda Market Square is illuminated by candlelight, while the surrounding buildings are lit with Christmas trees and fairy lights to give the town that festive feel.
The Mayor of Gouda reads the story of the Nativity and then the townspeople and local
choir gather around the main Christmas tree in the centre of the square to sing carols.

Lights evening Delft 12 December

In city centre of Delft many special activities are organised to start the Christmas season. In the early evening the lights in the Christmas tree on the Market square are lit. At the same time, the rest of the city will be darkened, creating a romantic atmosphere. Little market stalls provide hot chocolate and other hot and cold Dutch delicacies.

Concertgebouw Christmas Matinee 25 December
One of Amsterdam's immutable traditions is the Christmas matinee concert given by the Royal Concertgebouw in the famous hall after which it is named. This year Mariss Jansons conducts the orchestra with soprano Elina Garanca, playing Rossini, Verdi, Mascagni, Chapi and J. Strauss jr.

De Efteling, Kaatsheuvel 6 December 2008 to 25 January 2009
Step into a winter wonderland when the Efteling opens its doors this winter. Walk through the beautifully lit fairy tale forest, warm yourself by the bonfires or try one of the typical winter fares sold at the stalls or restaurants. Or just enjoy the various rides and other attractions.
During this period the attraction park will be open for a total of 26 days from 11a.m to 8 p.m. De Efteling during the winter months exudes a Dickens-like winter atmosphere. Live entertainment and shows, a proper skating rink against the backdrop of the fairy tale attractions make this an unforgettable experience.
