Water and Floriade

Sustainability is one of the main themes at Floriade. The Floriade Venlo Principles, which are based on the Cradle to Cradle®’ philosophy, form the template for the realisation and exploitation of Floriade. Water is inextricably linked to horticulture.

Waster plays a vital role in the World Show Stage themed zone. This area is dominated by imposing water features. On the Floriade Boulevard you can revive your feet after a long walk by dangling them in the water, do a spot of people-watching and enjoy the view from Theatre Hill. But best of all you can tuck into the delicious snacks and drinks on offer here. In the 16 different kiosks along the boulevard we serve snacks and finger foods from all four corners of the world.

Floriade Beach Club

The water in the ponds and lakes is rain water, and is used to irrigate the plants at Floriade. The Floriade park is also the venue for a veritable beach club. Imagine you're on a city beach in Barcelona or Paris. Kick off your shoes, sit back and enjoy! The barbecue will be sizzling until midnight, our bar staff will be shaking delectable cocktails and the very first salsa rhythms will entice you onto the dance floor.

Water exhibitions

The Water Pavilion at Floriade will stimulate your senses with playful water effects and interactive exhibits so you realise even better the true value of water and being able to access it. Entertaining, interactive and inspirational. Experience yourself how vital water is to our lives, why the presence of water is not as self-evident as it might seem and how important access to sufficient supplies of clean water is. The exhibition about water will astonish, amaze and inspire you to take action.

A large art installation will also be on show in the shape of the yin-yang symbol in which water constantly flows. Visitors can take a walk over this object.
