Coen van Veen is on top of the dune

Coen van Veen is the International Sales Director at Grand Hotel Huis ter Duin in Noordwijk. Even though his job is on ‘the beach of Amsterdam’, he still loves to bring his wife and 2 children there to relax. “For me, it is something very typically Dutch if it's a beautiful day, you just go to the beach and have fun with your family.”

Bring yourself, Coen will do the same

Coen van Veen is 35 years old. He is International Sales Director at Grand Hotel Huis ter Duin in Noordwijk.

The beach at your doorstep

The family-owned and managed hotel originally opened in 1887 as a seaside resort. “The hotel was built on the highest dune in Noordwijk, so once I explain we are the ‘House on the Dune’, people immediately understand this and remember it.” Only 25 minutes from Schiphol International Airport, the hotel offers the best of both worlds: it has all the facilities you need, while being far enough away from the distractions of the busy city. “You have the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the beach and keep everyone’s full attention at the same time.”

Authenticity is very important for Coen.” I really see sales as a consultative process, not just providing facts and figures. We try to give personal attention to every phase of planning a conference, and how can we help you reach your goals. I find that very rewarding to work on and to achieve.”

Working in the international market, Coen has been the face of Huis ter Duin for the past 8 years. You can easily spot him at international fairs and network events in his signature orange pants. “People recognize the pants and associate me with Huis ter Duin. I very much identify with the hotel. That's just who I am and I can be completely myself at the hotel.”

Ice cream and sand sculptures

The attraction of the beach never gets old. When people are shown around the hotel and the multifunctional rooms, they always go straight for the windows to enjoy the sea view. During meetings it’s also just a few steps away to take a quick break for a breath of fresh, salty, sea air. “We use the beach year-round for activities. It can range from something simple like going out for an ice cream, building sand sculptures or even helping to clean up the beach.”

At the hotel, no two days are alike. “Sure, there is a routine in my work, but every day is different, and that is exactly what I like, just like the ever-changing sea views.”
