Madurodam brings Holland to life
The miniatures and their stories come to life in Madurodam. There is much to see, experience and do. Madurodam tells the stories entwined with the miniature buildings in multimedia and helps you learn more about Holland’s history.
Madurodam is highly interactive: you can operate the Oosterscheldekering storm surge barrier yourself, load containers on a cargo ship at the Port of Rotterdam, let an airplane take off from Schiphol airport, and bid on a bunch of flowers at the flower auction house.
At indoor attraction ‘de Waterwolf’, you will experience what it’s like to fight against the water. It contains a replica of the famous De Cruquius steam pumping station. During a sparkling show, you and other visitors will battle against the water to pump dry the huge Haarlemmermeer lake.
The movie screens tell you more about the stories behind the buildings you see in Madurodam. For instance, did you know how many flowers and flower bulbs are traded in Holland every day? The “Madurodammertjes” tell you a multitude of Dutch stories, fun facts and highlights.
Madurodam provides a perfect combination of an amusement park, historical heritage and world-class nature. With more than 5,500 miniature trees and 55,000 flower bed plants blossoming all season, the park is known for its scenic beauty.
Ever since the opening in 1952 Madurodam has been one of the most iconic places in the Netherlands. It is in the top 5 of the most visited theme parks in the country, and the perfect day out for visitors of all ages.
Madurodam’s shop has a broad range of surprising Dutch products and souvenirs: very Dutch but just a little bit different. Grand Café “Panorama” and restaurant “Taste of Holland” are the places to go for typically Dutch dishes.
