Jachthuis Sint-Hubertus
Discover an architectural masterpiece by Berlage
In 1914, the wealthy Kröller-Müllers decided to have a hunting lodge built on their recently acquired estate, De Hoge Veluwe (today a national park). For this they commissioned the renowned architect Hendrik Berlage, also known for the Beurs van Berlage in Amsterdam and The Hague’s Kunstmuseum. But Berlage didn’t stop at the building: he also designed the interior, the furniture, the gardens, the service wing, a bridge… The result is a veritable gesamtkunstwerk: Jachthuis Sint Hubertus.
The Hoge Veluwe National Park
After the deaths of the Kröller-Müllers, their estate, including the Jachthuis, were opened to the public. The Kröller-Müller Museum, located inside the National Park, is the life’s work of Helene Kröller-Müller. It shows her remarkable collection of modern art, which includes the world’s second-biggest collection of Van Gogh artworks and an expansive sculpture garden. To explore the National Park, visitors can use one of the 1,800 freely available bikes.

The remarkable Jachthuis is one of many impressive buildings in the province: Gelderland is rich in history and punctuated by the turrets and towers of its many castles, offering visitors many opportunities to step back in time through seven centuries of grandeur and opulence.
