The 9 Straatjes shopping itinerary Amsterdam

You feel like shopping but aren't too fond of the big chainstores. You do not want to go to the megastores in the well-known shopping streets and prefer searching for small, original and exclusive shops. Such shops are exactly what you will find in the 9 straatjes, which are located in a beautiful part of Amsterdam's city center, right in the middle of the canal belt. Virtually every tram or bus in the center of Amsterdam stops nearby.

  • Full of picturesque monuments, authentic shops and special cafes and restaurants.
  • Right in the middle of the canal belt, between the Singel and Prinsengracht, 3 x 3 = 9 straatjes.
  • Most shops are open on Sundays.

The itinerary

Starting at the wonderful Magna Plaza shopping mall on Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal, walk through the Raadhuisstraat to the Hartenstraat. This is the first of the nine little streets. Cross the bridge over the Keizersgracht canal and stroll into the Reestraat, which ends on the Prinsengracht.

Now turn left into the Berenstraat, which turns into the Wolvenstraat. Then, reaching the Herengracht, turn right towards the Huidenstraat and Runstraat. The nine little streets crisscross along in the district between the Rozengracht, Leidsestraat, Prinsengracht and Singel.

Food and drinks

In addition to galleries, gift shops and boutiques selling fashion, design and home decoration, the 9 Straatjes have plenty of terraces, good restaurants and welcoming cafés to offer. In short, the 9 Straatjes have everything you need for a day-long shopping spree.
