WorldPride 2026: celebrate who you are - July 25, 2026 - August 8, 2026, Amsterdam

Each August, Amsterdam celebrates diversity, freedom and the LGBTQ+ community at Pride Amsterdam. It culminates in the Canal Parade, when hundreds of fabulously decorated boats sail past cheering crowds. And 2026 is an extra-special year: Pride Amsterdam is combined with WorldPride, a global event that raises awareness of LGBTQ+ issues worldwide. Amsterdam is the perfect host for such an important event: in the Netherlands, Pride is a state of mind all year round. Soak it all up in a month full of parties and culture.

  • Visit Amsterdam for WorldPride from 25 July to 8 August.
  • Celebrate freedom, diversity and the LGBTI+ community.
  • Cheer on the fabulous boats at the famous Canal Parade.

Big celebrations and everyday joy

When people come to the Netherlands to celebrate Pride, they often remark on how much they enjoy not just the big events, but everything around it, too. Cycling through the streets of Amsterdam. Sitting outside cafés and bars to soak up the fun and open atmosphere. Experiencing the freedom and diversity that are part of everyday life here. Pride month is when we show all this to the world, and we love it that everyone can come to enjoy Amsterdam as a local.

Did you know...

that the first WorldPride was held in Rome in 2000?

The city really erupts during Pride, with parties everywhere organised as part of WorldPride and Pride Amsterdam. And there is lots more to discover, too: exhibitions, talks, community get-togethers, events highlighting the city’s queer history and much more are happening all over town. Amongst all that, make sure to leave space for enjoying the vibes! Hire a bike, stop for a coffee, check out the many queer bars and cafés, explore new neighbourhoods, go off the beaten track...

The Canal Parade in Amsterdam

Pride Amsterdam

The Canal Parade will take place on 1 August 2026 and is the undisputed highlight of Pride Amsterdam and WorldPride. Around 80 exuberantly decorated boats with DJs and dancers take to the Prinsengracht canal, while spectators line the canal sides, cheering and dancing. On occasion of WorldPride, a 10,000-seater ‘stadium’ will be erected right by the canal. But the party extends far beyond, celebrating the long history and many achievements of the LGBTQ+ community as well as the diversity, openness and free spirit that Amsterdam and the Netherlands stand for.

This summer marks the parade’s 30th anniversary: don’t miss the beautiful photo exhibition celebrating this milestone. It’s one of many: in 2001, the Netherlands became the first country in the world to legally recognise same-sex marriage. LGBTQ+ advocacy has a long history here. Founded in Amsterdam in 1946, the COC is one of the world’s oldest still existing LGBTQ+ rights organisations, campaigning for equal rights, offering support and organising community events. LGBTQ+ culture is an important part of our society, and Pride culture is interwoven with our daily lives.

Explore the rest of the country

One of the great things about travelling in the Netherlands is how easy it is to get around. And there are amazing cities to explore, all home to inspiring, welcoming queer communities. Some, such as Utrecht, Groningen, Rotterdam and Eindhoven, also host their own Prides. Haarlem and Den Haag are also well worth a visit. You could organise a day trip from Amsterdam to escape the busy party schedule for a bit, or extend your stay to tag on a few days in a new city.

Get ready to celebrate WorldPride

It’s the first time ever that Amsterdam hosts WorldPride. The fact that this is happening in 2026, as we celebrate 25 years of marriage equality, is extra special. This edition’s theme is ‘Unity’, and you can see the full event listings here. Make sure you make the most of your stay: find tips for your perfect holiday and get planning. Do note that as WorldPride is such a huge event, hotels will book out fast, so it’s a good idea to book accommodation in good time.
