ZeeVerse Vismarkt Den Oever

At the ZeeVerse Vismarkt, you can buy the catch of Wieringer fishermen directly, without intermediaries. The Wieringer fishermen use smaller ships to catch fish in a sustainable, old-fashioned way. In summer, you can see the fishing boats up close or go for a boat tour at sea. You can also learn how to repair nets or participate in a cooking demonstration, learning new ways to prepare fish.

From sole to gurnard

At the market you will find a broad selection of the freshest fish vailable in Holland at any time. Think of sole, plaice, langoustine, gurnard and monk fish. Not every species is available year-round. Since the flavor of some species is not as good in some periods, the fishermen make a first selection.

Saturday morning

The ZeeVerse Vismarkt is held every Saturday morning from 08:30 to 12:00. The Saturday market is closed only when the fishermen cannot leave the harbor due to bad weather.

Accessibility of fish market

Den Oever lies at the foot of the Afsluitdijk between the upper edge of North Holland and Friesland. It is also easily reached from Flevoland via the dyke between Lelystad and Enkhuizen. From the A7 motorway, it is just a few minutes to the harbor of Den Oever.
