The Blob in Eindhoven

On ’18 September Square’ in the old city centre of Eindhoven, you will find a futuristic building that stands out among its neighbours. It is called 'The Blob' and was designed by the Italian architect Massimiliano Fuksas. The organically shaped glass and steel structure serves as the entrance to the wonderful 'The Admirant' shopping mall.

  • Visit the design city of Eindhoven and admire the many fine examples of futuristic architecture.
  • Discover the Blob, one of architect Massimiliano Fuksas’ little masterpieces.
  • A lunchroom is located in the Blob.

BLOB: Binary Large Object

The futuristic structure and spacious interior are an eye-catching addition to say the least, turning The Blob into a beacon in the city. It has rapidly become a popular meeting spot for Eindhoven locals. The structure is 25 metres high, covered in glass and steel. It stands shoulder to shoulder with the 'Philips light tower', linking it to the Admirant.

Representative of Eindhoven...

The Blob is flanked by two other structures in the same style that serve as the entrance to an underground bicycle garage, which accommodates up to 1,700 bicycles. Together the structures form an extraordinary piece of architecture that, once again, confirms Eindhoven’s image as a city that stimulates experimental design.
