Pandhof: Cathedral Tower’s idyllic garden
The garden of Utrecht
To visit the Pandhof, take the street next to the University Hall that leads behind St. Martin's Cathedral. Once you pass the neo-Gothic entrance gate, you will enter into an oasis of peace. The old monastery garden is divided into little plots with herbs and plants separated from each other by low-lying hedges. In the middle of the garden is a fountain with a bronze statue of the 14th-century canon (priest) Hugo Wstinc. The garden is surrounded on three sides by a gothic cloister, where young and old can sit down to enjoy the peace and the acoustics.
Tearoom and summer concerts
Next to the Pandhof is the Cathedral’s tearoom. This is where you can enjoy a cup of coffee and a slice of pie with a view to this gorgeous garden. The monastery garden is an ideal place to listen to the peal of the bells in the Cathedral Tower. You can visit the garden at no charge.
