8x the best beach clubs in every season

Many beach clubs are assembled in the pre-season and taken down after the summer. It is not on every beach that beach clubs are allowed to remain in place throughout the year. However, there is an increasing number of places you can go to year-round for a drink, a bite, and a fantastic view of the sea. These are our best tips!

1. Tijn Akersloot, Zandvoort aan Zee

It is just a short trip from Amsterdam and Haarlem to the Dutch coast and the attractive seaside towns of Bloemendaal and Zandvoort. In Zandvoort you can walk from the train station to the beach of Zandvoort in just 5 minutes. Beach club Tijn Akersloot is a well-known hotspot that attracts people from Zandvoort and beyond. It is open until midnight every day and serves delicious snacks and salads, as well as wood oven pizzas. When the weather is fair, the front facade is opened up all the way and meat and fish dishes are prepared on the barbecue, too.

2. San Blas, Bloemendaal aan Zee

You’d almost believe you were on a different continent at beach club San Blas on the beach of Bloemendaal, the interior of which was inspired by the San Blas islands near Panama. Experience the outdoor feeling in summer and winter, with a sliding facade that is opened up when the weather is warm and a wood heater on cold days. San Blas serves healthy and honest fare, with meat, fish, vegetarian and vegan dishes with a touch of Panama on the beach.

3. Timboektoe, Noordpier in Wijk aan Zee

The beach of Wijk aan Zee is known as one of the best places for surfing in Holland. It makes sense that it boasts a relaxed beach club like Timboektoe, a real hotspot for surfers. Enjoy a slice of cheesecake or a portion of Dutch bitterballen while watching the ships sail by towards Amsterdam and IJmuiden. Dogs are welcome!

4. Club Zand, Castricum aan Zee

Club Zand on the beach of Castricum aan Zee is more than just a warm fireplace and great lounge spots, as it also offers veggies, sustainability and live music. Every Friday is Food Market Friday. A market stall in the middle of the greenhouse is stacked with fresh meat, fish and vegetables. Take your pick and have the cooks prepare your meal for you. There is also live music every week.

5. Beachclub De Jongens, Bergen aan Zee

The village of Bergen aan Zee in North Holland is surrounded by dunes. So, you can get some fresh air on the beach and then go hiking through the dunes. After that, order breakfast or lunch at beach club De Jongens. The menu is a joy to behold. Young and old, those seeking peace and quiet and sporty visitors, everyone is made to feel welcome. And your dog is allowed in, too!

6. Hart Beach, Scheveningen

In addition to beaches and a boulevard, Scheveningen also boasts museum, theaters, the Pier, shops, a casino and an aquarium, countless restaurants, and a seaport! The best beach club in Scheveningen? We’ll go with Hart Beach: a surfers’ living room (and surf school) with a relaxed ambiance and a view of surfers on the waves, the Pier, and the ever-changing North Sea. And of course because it serves cheese fondue and a boasts a crackling fireplace.

7. Strand Café DOK, Renesse

The beach club Strand Café DOK in Renesse is spacious, stylish, and suitable for a day by the sea with the entire family. It can be found at Strandpark De Zeeuwse Kust. Day guests from outside the park are also welcome at the beach club. Children can enjoy themselves at the indoor playground or pool, the kids’ cinema, or the big outdoor playground, weather permitting.

8. Heartbreak Hotel, Terschelling

Our final pick is a contemporary beach club up north, HeartBreak Hotel in Oosterend on the island of Terschelling. Heartbreak Hotel is entirely decorated in the style of the fifties and sixties. Go here to enjoy music by Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Chuck Berry, and other classics. The theme recurs on the menu and, if you like, you can even spend the night in fifties style
