Pride in the Netherlands
WorldPride Amsterdam 2026 will be special: from 25 July to 8 August 2026, Amsterdam will be celebrating the freedom to be yourself – unconditionally. But Pride in the Netherlands is more than just that one moment in the capital. In this episode, you’ll hear how queer life is just as visible away from major events: in local pubs, bookshops and local communities, or at film festivals, small exhibitions and sports clubs.

Queer culture across the country
This episode, we’re going for a bird’s-eye view. We’re travelling from Amsterdam to Utrecht, Groningen, Eindhoven and Rotterdam, focusing on places where Pride feels more intimate, more local and, at times, surprisingly ordinary. There is also plenty of room for history: COC Netherlands was founded in 1946 and is considered the oldest LGBTIQ+ organisation still active in the world. And since 2001, same-sex couples have been able to get married in the Netherlands.
